Regrettably, Paul has announced that he wont be on Bryan's forthcoming tour for "personal reasons" and that he is very disappointed but it was his "only option".
This was announced Paul's Facebook page. :(

This is not good news. I hope it doesn't portend something serious...

So do I ! He only announced being on the tour 10 days or so ago, so makes you wonder.
I was really happy for him(and me) that he was back with Bryan for a while.
But, hey ho, such is life.

Hard to say exactly what it might mean, but it is strange that things changed so dramatically just 10 days after first being made public by TGPT.

My sense is that BF signs his band members to contracts that give him exclusive rights to their services for a sustained period of time (in this case presumably all BF gigs through calender year 2017). So perhaps there are commitments later in the year that TGPT felt that he couldn't cancel or ignore. Maybe that's what it's all about. But nonetheless it's strange that this wouldn't have been apparent 10 days earlier...

I'm very disappointed and sad not to see TGPT live this year.

Which makes it highly unlikely, imo. But, whatever it is, let's just hope it's nothing serious.

Paul's statement:- "Just to let you all know that I won't be joining Bryan Ferry on his 2017 tour . (for personal reasons) I am very disappointed but its my only option"

The news about Paul joining the tour was first announced on the 9th January, 23 days ago.

There are many changes that can happen to us all or to our families without the luxury of advance notice so why speculate about contracts and how strange it might be..... :(

Some people don't have any interest in the business/financial character of Roxy and BF. That's fine. Others such as myself find it to be of interest. Remember the wonderful phrasing from VP: "make me a deal and make it straight..." And the reference to Robert E. Lee concerned not the Civil War general but rather the lawyer/solicitor who advised BF in in his negotiations with EG management...

I'm just sorry that TGPT won't be a part of the tour...

Me too, but I've far too much respect for TGPT as a person and a musician to go into a long debate about the reasons why, but I would put my money on it being a contractual/legal issue, particularly as Paul is now associated with Lindesfarne. First and final comment.

Hey, we all love Paul, let's not have a row on this forum for no reason.
