I am like everyone saddened to hear the news of the passing of Lucy Birley. I offer my condolences to the four boys and her family and friends and all who knew and loved her.

In line with the family wishes can we all respect their privacy and use this forum for expressing our condolences only

From Bryan Ferry. Com

“I’m much saddened and shocked by this tragic news of Lucy’s death. The family request that our privacy be respected during this difficult time.”

Bryan Ferry

Thanks JOB for the thoughtful post and yes, so sad indeed. Sincere condolences to the entire family, especially her four boys.

Lucy was a natural beauty and was wonderfully captured for all posterity by Robert Mapplethorpe in his 'Lucy Ferry' portrait, that in my opinion is one of his most striking portraits as he managed to capture Lucy in the most serene idyllic pose.

Lucy was responsible for generously allowing several of us to attend a few of Roxy's and Bryan's after-show parties here in London. On one occasion we talked photography and the New York scene during the early eighties, she was a font of knowledge and very kind. She will be be missed. My thoughts are with her family & friends during this difficult time.

RIP.

Tragic news. Thoughts are with Tara, Otis, Isaac, Merlin, Bryan and her husband Robin. Such a sad loss.

Terribly sad to read about the circumstances of this and surprised that Bryan hasn't cancelled tonight's gig in Dublin. Was just looking through some old photo's of Lucy and surprised to come across this one of her and Bryan socialising together as late as 2010:

Didn't quite realise they still had that level of contact. BF once referred to her as Garboesque and it will be hard not to think of her whilst The Only Face is playing in future following on from this tragedy.

Thanks Dean.

It's interesting that the same 2010 social event attended by BF and Lucy was also attended by Jerry Hall. But I didn't see any photos showing BF and JH in close proximity to one another...
