For those who might have been wondering about the lady dubbed "the vixen of the violin" by the Daily Mail...

I was shopping near home in Holloway Road (Islington) about a week ago when I looked up to find myself walking towards one of those TV news readers or reporters who you tend to recognise without being able to instantly name.

By the time I'd decided it was Gavin Esler and remembered that he's Anna Phoebe's partner, he was almost past me, but I caught a brief glimpse of a heavily pregnant lady beside him who looked a bit like AP (I'd never seen her at close quarters; even when I was in the front row in Helsinki, she remained at the back of the stage).

A bit of belated googling tonight revealed that she is indeed expecting her first baby in December, although still currently performing here and there.

I think I read in her blog that she lives not too far away (Tufnell Park or thereabouts), so if I see them in the supermarket or coming out of Mothercare I'll send good wishes from VRM's membership!

Just home from a wet & windy Maidstone, where I spent Sunday being buffeted by the elements at the Ramblin' Man Fair outdoor music festival.

Anna Phoebe was the opening act on the Prog stage and very good (again) she was too. Performing in shorts in such weather (as she very attractively did...) should be part of some sort of iron man challenge!

I can highly recommend both of her recent CDs (an EP followed by a full length album) and details can be found at http://www.annaphoebe.com, where there is a shop link to her Burning Shed store (similar to Phil Manzanera's). :D

Anna Phoebe's new violin & guitar duo Papillon is on the bill, together with Phil & Andy, for the Children Change Colombia event at the Hippodrome in London on 14th Nov. :D

If any London or south-east based Roxy fans are at a loose end this Thursday 16th, Anna Phoebe's Papillon duo (with guitarist Nicolas Rizzi) has a free gig at The Bedford pub in Balham.

Papillon will be the middle act of three and is due on stage at 8 p.m.; next act is at 9 p.m., so that suggests a set of 40-45 mins.

See you there? ;)
