Monsieur Smudge, Bravo! What a fabulous work of art. It makes the Roxy corner in my study look amateur. There can't be a Ferryista in the world who doesn't envy you your treasured item. Regards, Windswept

Very nice, Smudge Eno's signature is not so rare, but he is a difficult character to deal with in person. He signed a lot of stuff for the War Child charity in the mid-Nineties: posters, postcard sets, etc. I met him only once, at the Saatchi Gallery in St. John's Wood, on 21 June 1995, and found him to be a deeply unpleasant man. A shame because he has worked on so many of my favourite records (not just the Roxy stuff).

Well, Peanut I will have to strongly disagree here. I met Brian in the audience at a Damien Dempsey gig in Bush Hall and he was incredibly friendly to me and the 3 other members of my family. Very interested in our opinions, where we lived (even taking on an exagerated Suffolk accent!) and quite modest as well. I asked him about the recent Roxy recordings and remember him saying, "the world doesn't really need another Roxy album". I disagreed - as you would. To sum up, top bloke very friendly, the only other musician I've met as pleasant in person would be Robert Wyatt.

On this point, Eno and I are in complete agreement.

As a variation on the signed FYP theme, I thought I'd post a photo of my signed & framed Siren cover. If Eno can be said to represent Mk. I Roxy (let's not split hairs about who was in the band before they recorded... ), then Eddie Jobson arguably does likewise for Mk. II Roxy.
