Is it just the lyrics that put you off, Helen?

Avondale,
I don't have a problem with the lyrics at all sung by Amy Whinehouse. Love the song, love the album. Just can't connect the lyrics to BF, and as Roxy has pointed out I wonder how BF delivered the opening lines? haha

I suppose time will tell as the tour continues.

As I supected, Bryan sings an alternative lyric.................."I kept my lips wet" ;)

Haha! took the safe bet then.... ;)

I'm more alarmed that I inserted a "h" in Winehouse. Last time I did that was through a text message and predictive text sent it as Whorehouse... .. I was deeply ashamed of myself. haha

I noticed that but couldn't decide if it was a typo or intentional

Helen

I have never concerned myself with AW's lyrics before. Her enunciation is so bad (surely an affectation?) that I can't make much of it out and I don't like her music enough to research it. However, given your comments (and Roxy's too) I looked up the lyrics to this song and my over-riding impression is that they lack class. Lack of class is something that Bryan has ever been guilty of in the past and I don't want to see him sully himself in the latter stages of his career. so I am glad that he changed the lyric to something more circumspect rather than doing a straightforward swap over of the gender specific words (which would have meant using that four letter word that the ladies don't like).

I am also with you on the drug related line - just not classy and not right for our Bryan

That said, I am really pleased that he has started to dip into a more current songbook than usual. As I advocated in an earlier thread, this is something that I felt was ripe for him - so if this is the start of such a trend then it's a thumbs up from me.

Great set list. Very brave. Is this the first time Remake Remodel has been performed on a solo tour ?

No. Check John's 'Dylanesque' set lists. Re-make Re-model was played 'Down Under'. However, I think they played the Roxy Music version.

Conversely, Roxy Music played the Bryan Ferry version on the 'Siren' tour!

In a strange way, history repeated itself. Solo stuff was included on the Siren Tour and they split shortly after. The same thing happened on the Avalon tour. We should have seen it coming in 1983 !

My apologies Ian & Graham, I only scanned over the VRM "typical set list" listings thinking they would list every song that could have been played on any of the tours. I didn't look at each individual show set list.
