The show is over and what a triumph it was!
To say that the joint was rocking has got to be the understatement of the decade. Even the most reserved hipster in town was moving his or her thing before we reached the final act of this marathon set. The only summation can be brilliant — absolutely brilliant!
The set list was the smorgasbord of delights previously reported with the notable exception of "Hard Rain" being added as a closer.
Everything was note perfect — our hero was in fine voice but what made the whole thing so fabulous was the complete fusion of music and art. The visuals were simply stunning and so appropriate for each song and, as Geordie's favourite son romped through forty years of musical seduction, I couldn't help but reflect that his complete search for excellence is his true genius.
Every time I go away from a Ferry gig I feel completely satisfied - he hones everything to absolute perfection and even goes to the trouble of changing costume at half time — all for our pleasure! I loved the LV jacket - you have to be cool to pull that one off!
With regard to the songs, amongst my personal favourites was the fabulous full band version of 'Carrickfurgus" — haunting would be the key descriptor for this particular morsel and "Casanova" which sounded as fresh and seductive as ever!
But, it's difficult to highlight when everything is at this level.
Windswept goes to bed a very happy bunny and already, he can't wait for Brighton.

What a great way to spend a Monday evening!

Just to briefly reiterate Windswept2's point, it was a corker of a gig and BF was in great voice & spirits.

On a personal note it was nice to meet Mr & Mrs Windswept2 plus Jon & his partner who had travelled all the way from York for the gig.

I'll stick a review together in a few hours, but I need a little shut-eye between the late, late show at Ronnie Scott's and my overdue battle with a dentist...

Absolutely agree. The man and his band were in outstanding form. And I finally get to hear "Take A Chance With Me" after 31 years. Yippee! One very happy bunny here this morning .

although we miss ATAP & CR, for an artist with such a comprehensive back catalogue, he managed to please everybody last night...

the show clocks in at around 2hrs10mins, and covers pretty much everything...

the voice was clear, band fantastic, and the highlight has to be 'take a chance with me'...

we also get OOTB & SFE, as well as SSS & hard rain.

i feel bf hasn't toured a better show in 20yrs...

Forum readers may be relieved to know that they've probably been spared my Albert Hall review...

After spending 90+ mins typing it this evening, I hit the "submit" button, only to be asked to log in again; I did so and was redirected to the forum index. Sadly, no sign of my review there or anywhere else. Needless to say, it wasn't saved...

Unless it turns up in the VRM server (I've messaged J.O'B), it's gone for good and I don't have the will to go through it again from scratch, I'm afraid...

I don't know if there's an unofficial timing out here for slow typists like me, but I guess I may need to type any longer posts as Word docs in future, before copying & pasting them here...

I have done this for some time now when compiling a long post anywhere or send myself an email. There is nothing worse than seeing your hard work vanish in front of your eyes and then trying to recall what you have spent ages putting together.

I will be very disappointed if your review is lost as, I am sure, will all other VRM regulars. They are always great fun to read and one of the highlights of this excellent forum..

I know, from experience, that sinking feeling when you hit the submit button to no effect, so you have my sympathies. There seems to be a maximum time slot for submitting a post. I think it is 60 minutes. Having fallen foul of this a couple of times, when I now feel that I have come close to this threshold, I copy before hitting the submit button. That way, if it goes down the cyber tubes, I can start a new post and simply paste it straight on and submit again.
