Mes Amis, We have the thickening of the plot! What is our hero up to? Does this mean that TBFO are not going to make it across the Atlantic? If so, this is a great shame. Our American brethren will be deprived of a cultural phenomena. Doubtless our good friend DJC will check-in and tell us that this is a cost issue and give us a budget estimate. In the interim, if this really is money related can I propose a practical solution. Perhaps TBFO could work their way across on the Queen Mary and rendezvous with our hero in NYC? I would be quite prepared to accompany them and pass around the hat for a small 10%. Imagine the scenario, sublime Jazz every night in the most sumptuous of art deco environments — quelle fandango! Or maybe "Can't Let Go'' is the title of the new album, named on honour of that tasty morsel from "The Bride Stripped Bare"? Who knows but Windswept is desperate for a good reason to make that NYC trip. Meanwhile, felicitations a toute l'équipe Ferry for their great creativity. I'm sure they'll come up with something fabulous. Regards, Windswept.

I would suggest (with no more than an educated guess) that this tour may be called Can't let Go as this is a song that references Bryan's time living in California where most of these shows are taking place. Cuesta Way is where he lived at one time and Canoga Park is in that part of the world.
Like I say just a guess.

As soon as I saw the tour was called "Can't Let Go" I thought it was an inspired choice, because the song is the one best things to come out his sojourn in So Cali back in '78. As someone with a professional interest in the history of the San Fernando Valley and LA, I love the specificity of the Canoga Park and "Sunset to the beach' references!
Well Windswept, I wouldn't disagree with the assumption that cost considerations comprised a factor in determining the size of the band that will accompany BF on the "Can't Let Go" Tour. Every tour by every artist has to factor in such costs, and BF is hardly immune to such realities. The numbers have to work, and the bigger the band the more the costs go up. Don't blame me...
If the tour was to be in June/July I would find a way to make my way out West and catch a gig, but April is not a good time for me to leave home. Sigh. I would enjoy seeing him at the Las Vegas gig!

So now that "Can't Let Go" is being featured as the moniker for BF's "West Coast Swing" tour, I'm wondering about when BF actually spent time in So Cali and wrote the song.
For along time I thought that BF's collaboration with Waddy Wachtel and drummer Rick Marotta occurred in LA because that's where they were both based in the latter 70s. WW was a studio guitar whiz and he had recorded Warren Zevon's album _Excitable Boy_ (you know, the one with "Werewolves of London") in LA in the same general time frame that TBSB was recorded. But the story behind TBSB states that the album was recorded in Montreaux (Switzerland).
Hmmm. Maybe WW and Rick M made the looong trip to Montreaux for an extended recording session with BF, but it seems weird. Especially to record (among others) a song that is about Southern California. So if BF lived in LA long enough to channel the experience into 'Can't Let Go," why didn't he do any recording while he was there?
Waddy is an LA musician. Why wouldn't BF have recorded with him in LA, rather than drag him half way around the world to Switzerland. Just wondering...
