Furious - really? I don't recall it being overtly sold as a Roxy reunion of any kind and as for 'new' well it was wasn't it. The tracks hadn't previously seen the commercial light of day so to all intents and purposes it was 'new'. The fact many had a 'history' might be of interest to die hard fans interested in the creative process (or what some seem to think is a lack of one), but that's about it really. By any reasonable measure it was a new album.
I await the forthcoming album with unbridled enthusiasm.

Sorry but it was mooted as a reunion - I can see the articles now - the fact that Eno, AM, PM were on it often featured in the first couple of paragraphs

J.O'B.

But he is vary clear about what he is doing - rejuvenating old material - something that certainly was missing from all the Olympia hype

I seem to have missed the Ollie T news. Whassup? Where can I read more?

Re the rework/rehash issue....I'm grateful for any material so long as it sounds good. And most of the stuff bf does sounds v good to my ears. Remarkable output over a long long time.

There has not been "news" announced as such, just observations of what Ollie is doing at present coupled with who Bryan has performed with recently.

Let's all wait and see when it comes out and reserve judgement till then. I'm sure that if not actually new then much if not all of the material will be new to me.

I'll be interested to see whether Bryan's vocals on it are recent or from whenever the material was originally recorded. We are all assuming that it is similar to what Nile Rodgers has done with the unreleased Chic material but, apart from the inclusion of Marotta and Ferrone being referred to, we don't really know what to expect do we?

Remember back in the spring/summer of 2012 when Johnny Marr was in the BF Tour Band there was buzz that JM was recording again with BF. So maybe some of that material will appear on the new album. Or maybe not. But it is certainly a possibility...

Thanks Roxy. Based on this alone, I'd not assume that OT and BF have gone separate ways. Let's see.

When it comes to BF nothing is Official until it becomes Official so maybe OT's presumed absence from this year's version of the BF Band will prove to be a red herring.

But Ollie is promoting himself as a band leader ("Ollie Forrest") and has a video out with him singing an original song. This is a new development and points toward his seeking to establish himself as a frontman in contrast to the sideman role he has played for BF over the past 8 years or so.

My sense is that BF pays the members of his touring band a very good wage to accompany him on tour. But in return, BF requires assurance that other contractual obligations (such as going out and playing gigs in your own band) are not allowed to conflict with his concert dates (both confirmed and prospective). If the Ollie Forrest video was not out on the internet I would be assuming that OT would be playing with BF this spring and summer. But the fact of the video and OT's apparent absence from BF's performance at the Prince's Trust leads me to think there is a good chance that, at least for this spring and summer, OT will be off pursuing his own career.

As noted in some newspaper stories today, BF's life keeps moving on. And although OT has been a fixture in BF's concert appearances over the past 8 years, that too may be changing.

There you have it; thanks for the info duncanfyp.

Perhaps OT and BF will reconnect sometime down the road, but for the foreseeable future they appear to be taking different paths...
