The song featuring Ferry is called 'Gun Shaft City.' Spedding's new album 'Joyland' is due out the 20th of January in the USA and the 26th in UK, and will also feature collaborations with Johnny Marr, Steve Parsons, Robert Gordon, and actor Ian McShane.

The album description promises pure rock riffs and cool grooves - I did enjoy his last album 'Pearls' quite a bit.

Thanks wockawocka for posting this. Here is the link for a short review with snippets. There are two songs with Bryan Ferry/Johnny Marr credits ('Gun Shaft City'/'Heisenberg'), Andy Mackay is listed for two different songs ('I Still Love You'/'The Pied Piper'). Could be a pretty good album - I'll order my copy :-)

I've tended to post about Spedding in the General Discussion section, but since this thread is here... any London based fans will probably already know that Spedding's power trio plays the 100 Club in Oxford Street next Saturday 10th.

Thanks for posting this. I really love the Gun Shaft City snippet. His voice sounds fantastic. The rough style of his singing reminds me positively of the shanties he contributed to the Rogue's Gallery album in 2006. Can't wait to hear the whole song.

That's what I thought, too. And it reminds me of the TBSB album, my all time Ferry favourite. Identifiable instruments instead of overproduced soundscapes. I'd like to have some more handmade songs from Bryan.

Being a long time fan of CS, I hope he will join BF on tour later this year. CS and Ollie are my choices when it comes to guitar players.
Pianoman, whose remarks I always respect; this time I disagree strongly, though. The soundscapes are what makes BF;s music so interesting! No wonder that Mamouna is my all time favourite album.
(If you want a pure sound of guitar/bass/drums/vocal, you could turn on a record by Deep Purple, Nazareth or Led Zeppelin.)

Hipsters,
This album is sounding very interesting and with these characters involved - Andy Fraser (ex Free & Shark), Andy Newark, Andy Mackay, Johnny Marr and the ever crazy God of hell fire, Arthur Brown plus our hero — it should make for a heady cocktail.
Some of the guitar work on the snippets sounds amazing and W2 loves Bryan's rough hewn vocals.
The sea shanties were great and perhaps this may influence his next project towards a more stripped direction?
As avid readers of this column will know, W2 is a huge Spedding fan and the sooner he and Ollie are back on tour with our hero, the better.
Salutations,
Windswept
PS. Cover Art also looks great and the idea of Ian McShane playing a Stanley Unwin type role is interesting.

I am a fan of Nazareth as much as M. Windswept loves the Bay City Rollers  . To put things right, Oberon: You know that I consider 'Avonmore' to be a very strong Ferry album with great compositions. But sometimes the soundscapes are a little bit too dense, IMHO. I wanted to point out that BF's voice of 2015 perfectly fits for blues arrangements, too. The new version of 'More Than This' and 'Johnny And Mary' with less instrumental accompaniment were at least well received.

Pianoman, I didn`t mean to be sarcastic. I just wanted to point out that there are some - at least one - who likes Rhett Davies somehow dense productions. Thus I prefer Avalon to FYP as well as Mamouna to TBSB. I like round shapes, warm colours rather than sharp edges and black&white.
Salutations de Naxos!
