So it has been announced that a box set containing the eight studio albums will be released on March 16th. Similar in artwork to the 2012 cd box set, and very much like the 1981 box 'The First a Seven Albums', it does however omit the disc of b.sides. It does raise the question about the box sets of the first two albums also due. If they are released in the 12x12 format similar to the recent King Crimson and particularly the T.Rex reissue of 'The Slider', will they also include the vinyl? I think given the news of this new set, if such a box does come out then I would rather see a nice hardback book with many pictures and facts, pictures of tape boxes that kind of thing to accompany the expanded cd's of material, instead of another vinyl. What do you think?

Hmmmm... I've bought all Roxy Music LPs in the 80s, so I don't really see a reason why I should buy them again.

This is a good idea for a couple of reasons. Firstly it's nice to have it all gathered in one place, I've seen the individual albums in Fopp in London sell for around £25 each, a box like this will be more reasonable to buy. They will also be better in sound and packaging than the wafer thin releases by EG in the 80's and 90's. Also there is a new generation of vinyl lovers, a friend of mine in London will snap this up and she's twenty one. Having bought the recent Cream vinyl box set, I must say it is absolutely stunning in sound and packaging!

Ha! I had to laugh when I saw this announcement. Sure, there is some kind of market for this "new" box set among the uber-hype vinylistas. So OK, whatever...
But really, have BF and the boys no shame????? It is amazing how they find ways of churning the catalog and recycling the same familiar product over and over again. Oh wait, they were Mastered at Half Speed at Abbey Road! Be still my beating heart! Can it be true?
Sigh.
So where are those deluxe cd versions of the first two albums? Weren't they supposed to be somewhere in the pipeline?
