Forgive me if the forum has covered tbis before....
But, inspired by Teresa's love of the solo version of the classic Mother of Pearl, and Jerry's less favourable opinion. I'm interested in what our Roxy family think is Bryan's best cover of his earlier work.
For example, I love the Sea Breezes version with Chris Spedding almost as much as the original, the raunchy fairground rock reggaeness of it and Bryan's angry spitting "CHA CHA!!!"
I always liked the fact Bryan reworked his songs from an early stage.
I guess that explains some of the dilemmas he faced with writers block later on....

This is a Really Interesting Post Rendezvous... I am not familiar with many of Bryans Ready Mades Of his Earlier work, so I will be interested to see what our fellow Ferryfans post

Other than the aforementioned MOP , there are not many to think of, just the tracks on the Lets Stick Together compilation, Re-make. Re-model, 2Hb, Sea Breezes, Chance Meeting and Casanova. Of these, I would call out Chance Meeting as the best cover, on the basis of the archedly camp vocal and the synths and piano. On other news, Mary Ann Hobbs played the John Peel sessions of Virginia Plain on her show on BBC 6 Music on Sunday morning, just gone. It was rather fab. A superb group performance , credit to all players.

Sorry I didn't like the version of Mother of Pearl however I have always liked his solo versions of Remake Remodel and Casanova.

Interesting...
I really liked the Jazz age album, but particularly loved the remakes of reason or rhyme & this island earth...
Would really like to have heard vocal versions of those arrangements similar to the love is the drug on the yellow cocktail gatsby album...

As a rule, I think I prefer the originals, with the exception of Casanova-that languid sensuous beat gets even these arthritic hips moving.

How Strange EERO,
I just listened to both versions of Casanova A song I Absolutely Love And it's the first time I heard the Original from Country Life. I Much Prefer the Remake! They sound Completely Different
Same with Chance Meeting, I Much Prefer the Remake

Hi Studebaker, That's a Great Moniker One of Bryans First and Favourite Cars Well Casanova is personally one of My Favourite Ferrysongs but I really love the smoother Remake. A lot of Bryans' Remakes seem that way to me And Sea Breezes is Such a Great one as well....
