For his first appearances on Night of the Proms Bryan Ferry gets very bad reviews. Bored and vocally in a bad condition should have been the previous performances, the displeasure of the audience ...

I feel a little bit sorry for him when he gets bad reviews. If you go to a show like the Night of the Proms you probably go there every year because it's always big fun or you want to see a special artist like John Miles or the Pointers Sisters (in 2018). Then if the last thing you've ever heard from Bryan Ferry was Let's Stick Together or Love Is The Drug in your youth you may be disappointed. VRM members have grown old with his voice but there are others who didn't watch his career since the Roxy days. Nice to see that he gets critical acclaim for Bitter-Sweet (in the German media, too) .

Hipsters,
Windswept has long felt that our hero should be more selective with his live shows.
Not every venue or format suits him and his style works best in beautiful medium sized venues that have great acoustics.
If it is more about the money then ok, go ahead, do every show possible.
Windswept is a capitalist. He likes folk to be rich but it will come with its knocks. Not every show will yield great reviews and boredom will kick in both for the band and the audience.
Here’s hoping that 2019 will see a complete ‘Bittersweet ‘ re-boot.
Salutations,
W2

Another report from the gig in Hanover:
Only the grand seigneur of the evening, Bryan Ferry, does not look very happy. At the premiere of the program in Hamburg he still deserves the last place of honor, now he has slipped forward. He's 73 years old now, his voice is too, and that's what you hear. And the arrangements of the noble wave of his classics like "Avalon" and "Let's stick together" are not very good. .....................
Too bad.Sorry, but he would not have needed to perform in these shows. No good idea.
See him next year in Hamburg. Hope that it will be much better.

I was sorry to hear Bryan was getting bad reviews and was removed from the headline position to earlier in the show.
I personally think he is out of his comfort zone and the acoustics in some venues do not help.
I've watched a few videos, most of which sounded fine, but there was at least one that made me concerned.
I will be happy when he has finished this Proms thing and can concentrate on his own agenda. First thing I would advise would be an outfit change. Get rid of that jacket he insists on wearing. Where's the old Bryan with a touch of bling? He's had some great outfits over the years. Needs a refresh. Blast out a few more gems like he did with Beauty Queen and Mamouna.

I listened to a clip of 'Hey Jude' from one of the concerts and the two or 3 singers before Bryan are loud and clear, but when it comes to Bryan all I could hear was a barely audible whisper - not for the faint-hearted. Listen to it at your peril.

It’s sad - he needs to stop putting himself, his band and the punters through this .. More instrumental work please - get Todd Terje and Eno involved .. for gawd’s sake stop croaking at breakneck speed through the same inappropriate set lists ..

Deep in our heart we all know the critics are right and painful true…
Please Mr. Ferry, retire. Don't ruin your career any further...
