Bought from elsewhere as Tesco's dont sell it. I have written to them asking why its not for sale there. Do laces like Tesco have their own album charts based on their own sales? As someone posted earlier has the record company made a big mistake?

According to a mid-week report recently mentioned at roxyrama.com, Olympia is already out of the charts...

A bit sad in my opinion because I think it's his best album for years. Does anyone know how many Cds were actually sold so far ?

Here were this weeks new entries to the UK album charts. Perhaps this album should have been released in the new year?
Seems strange to lose out to a Barbra Streisan collection?

Number 2: Joe McElderry (last years X factor winner)
3: The Wanted? (New boyband??)
6: Taylor Swift
8: Barbra Streisand (Best of)
10: The Soldiers (Or boys on the front?)
12: Elton John & Leon Russell
19: Bryan Ferry

Olympia dropped to 52 in the latest "Official UK Chart" - Hmmm. Not what BF was hoping for...

[cMaybe this will be a bright spot for him? :D

US charts Friday November 5, 2010

Bryan Ferry, sold nearly 6,000 copies of Olympia to debut at number 71.

Perhaps surprisingly that’s not only an improvement on the number 117 peak of his last studio album, Dylanesque (2007) but also the highest placing achieved in America for a Ferry album since Bete Noire got to number 63 in 1987. Boys & Girls also reached number 63 (1985) and these two albums are jointly Ferry’s top charting solo albums in America. As a member of Roxy Music his best effort was Manifesto, number 23 in 1979.

Very very bad score for Ferry in his own land :(
The worst for an original album, I think :

Olympia seems to be generating a bit of buzz in The States - or at least it is far from DOA. 6,000 units sold is not amazing in the big scheme of things, but given the state of the Traditional Music Industry it could have been a lot worse...

In Philly, WXPN (the big public radio outlet with an AAA format has been playing You Can Dance once or twice a day for the past two weeks - not heavy rotation like Arcade Fire, but it is definitely in rotation and getting significant airplay.

I imagine that there is some communication underway between BF's team and Letterman's Late Night show about a possible live appearance featuring You Can Dance. Three years ago BF performed Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues with Leo, Ollie and the Late Night band. I could see something similar happening again.
