Just got an email from Townsend Records regarding the Taxi rerelease - coming out on yellow vinyl and Japanese style card sleeve CD. I’ll be purchasing the vinyl/CD package as, unlike many others, I actually quite like the Taxi album and its style. The main thing is why is this being rereleased? It turns 30 next year but is hardly an album you would pick for an anniversary release! There’s no other reason stated in the descriptions. https://townsendmusic.store/products/ar ... dium=email

-Hmm, an album I bought back in it`s day in lack of new original material. It`s mundane title reflects this fact, I think. If you were very investigating those days you could actually get it on vinyl already by then. A few copies were pressed, obviously for a limited marked, I was informed posthumously. I would no doubt have preferred buying it on vinyl, if I only knew of it. Of all things, I bought it on musiccassette.
The Live Roxy 2LP from the 2001 tour was an odd release too, as it was released some ten years ago. To me, it promted the question could it mean something?
However, Taxi on yellow vinyl? It`s too garish. It sticks out lying on the turntable and makes the record look very big in my modest living room. I was unfortunate discovering that I had got a yellow copy of the Greta Van Fleet EP when I unpacked it.

I pulled out my old copy of Taxi for a spin. I note there are no songwriting or playing credits on the album cover and sleeve. The writers credits are only on the label. That won’t change with the new issue.
My copy of Frantic contains the record in a white inner sleeve. Sparse.

I ordered mine today. I would like to see Mamouna album released on a dark red vinyl. That should be next.

No remastering / extra tracks just enhanced artwork which, if the earlier vinyl releases are anything to go by, will be like a 'spot the difference' competition. I just don't get it, beyond the yellow vinyl. It just seems so random. Even the oversize CD card doesn't look any bigger or noticeably different to the card format of the 1999 remasters. Bizarre. Maybe it's just a case of having something to "flog" in the run-up to Christmas?

I think that Taxi is a great album - BF doing covers at his best.

My copy arrived today. For those interested the back cover photograph has been changed , and the song, The Girl of my best friend , given its prefix , ‘the’ , in the track listing.
The inner sleeves credits all the musicians on each of the tracks , and has an enhanced thanks to list.
