ATGB on honey gold vinyl and Olympia on red, available to preorder at thesoundofvinyl.com
Released 30 May.

Cher UK Richard,
W2 is in a spin over the ATGB Vinyl but he has sold his soul to the devil by going fully digital with his B&O kit.
Should he buy a blue tooth enabled turntable so he can stream vinyl thru’ his BeoSound 5 or is that just faking it ?
Salutations,
W2

Wow! Looking forward to the ATGB vinyl - I was only 16 when this came out and only bought it on CD at that time as never really done vinyl.

Scott - you're a veritable young whippersnapper, but clearly one with impeccable taste. Successful too, as you must have an entire wing of your home to accommodate all that vinyl! :D

Ha well I have my whole spare room dedicated to my vinyl and CD collection. Had to end up getting custom made shelving for it all. Even that wasn’t enough so I have to have crates of my lesser played vinyl underneath the shelving!
People say it’s actually like being in a record store which I think is great - kind of the effect I was going for really.

I was convinced that we might have seen an As Time Goes By set last year for its 25th anniversary. I thought we’d get some extra material of the unreleased songs and possibly some live material as well.
It was such a great album and tour that it seemed a shame not to mark the occasion.
Especially as it seemed to be the springboard to the Roxy reunion and Bryan’s future releases and long touring spell.
I think releasing ATGB was actually the best thing for his career at that point. Going out to tour the album with the great band backing him and being able to perform Roxy and solo classics in a unique style piqued peoples interest a lot more than had he toured an album of new material.
It then allowed him to release the likes of Frantic with great excitement returning amongst the fans.
It can be quite sad to think that we’ll never have that sense of excitement with each new album and tour again.

Chateauneuf du Pape! Just 'Where Or When' did you forsake that almost lifelong pleasure of holding physical Ferry product within your hands - surely those 10 digits trump all things digital?
Admit the folly of such a dalliance is a case of too much 'Time On My Hands', and was 'Just One Of Those Things'. A 'Sweet and Lovely' Bluetooth turntable will have you and vinyl 'Falling In Love Again' if not immediately, then certainly 'As Time Goes By'.
You know it makes sense.

All great points from Scott. Although it was only 5 years on from 'Mamouna' and 6 since his last big hits, that's like a lifetime in the music industry. If BF was going to come back at all - and overcome what was reportedly a crisis of confidence as the twentieth century drew to a close - it needed to be different and eye/ear-catching. ATGB was a masterstroke that not only beautifully, authentically and rather uniquely played homage to these great songs, but provided the great personal and commercial springboard that Scott cites. Who knows, but I'd speculate the years that immediately followed may have looked very different indeed - and not necessarily for the better - without this milestone album.

Cher UK ,
You are a real friend and have told truth to what little power W2 still possesses.
In his defence W2 abandoned this must sublime of pleasures over 15 years ago when B&O ‘Lossless’ came to the for. Pour etre clair the system performs magnificently with its chic wall unit and pencil speakers. Indeed the quality is such it has fooled many a nerd.
That said, forgoing the lifelong pleasure of holding physical Ferry and performing all of the for-play associated with vinyl has become too much to bare.
W2 knows what he has to do regardless of monetary considerations. The only question is ‘Where And When’ ?
Merci Mille Fois,
W2
