J.O'B will doubtless provide a definitive response, Erland, but my recollection is that Phil & Andy were involved in this (former Roxy bassist John Wetton too), but not BF.

There is or was a reference to it (via the Expression Records shop link) at www.manzanera.com, implying that much of the Christmas spirit involved had been drunk prior to the recording!

At the end, it did sound like the laughs were the result of some kind of spirit indeed!

According to a question that was answered in Q magazine, a few years ago, it was indeed Phil, John Wetton and BF that were involved in the recording/larking about circa 1980.
Anymore than that seems to be unknown.

And the laughing is Phil and Eno from the session during "Primitive Guitars." The laughing is just before Impossible Guitar begins...
