It's going to be sweet to unwrap it. Feels like Christmas.

I'm going to guess that the initial suggested retail price for the "Complete Studio Recordings 1972-1982" will come in at 79 pounds sterling. Just a guess on my part, but I figure it's gong to be pretty substantial because they will be anticipating a relatively inelastic demand that won't increase much if the price drops, and won't decrease much as the price goes up. Hmmm. Maybe it will be priced at a nice simple 99 pounds.
So if they sell 10,000 units at 99 pounds apiece that will gross about 1 million pounds. Not bad. But can they actually sell 10,000 units at this price? That seems like a lot given the state of the music industry today.

I'm delighted to read that the rarities are on their way, there must be some fantastic stuff shelved and gathering dust in the archives that even they might have forgotten about, can't wait to get my mitts on them... looking forward to that little lot is an understatement on my part.
Big Love X

If I was a betting man, my guess would be £40 or £50 for that set, but closer to double that for the deluxe box of the debut album (broadly speaking, multiply by 1.5 for USD, Erland!). I shall make little effort to resist the compilation and none at all to fend off the deluxe boxes; bring them on!

To me, 50 pounds sterling seems to low for 8 cds, but anything over 100 also seems unrealistic. It will be interesting to see what the number comes in at.
Maybe the DVD version of the audio will be special, but only if you have a super high-end sound system. As for me, I usually listen to music on a simple little "boom box" so 24 bit blah blah is lost on me. Also, the sound quality is ultimately constrained by the 1970s-early 80s analog technology used to record the tracks in the first place, and the DVD remix/upgrades can't change that.
Anyway, I hope the people who buy the 8cd set enjoy it! That's all that matters...

Smudge, (you Native American? - they smudge), I was kidding. I'm familiar with the X1.5 rate. I was in London in '74 where I saw The Climax Blues Band at the Marquee Club, and met the manager for Led Zeppelin, Peter Grant in the loo. Then I saw Queen at the Rainbow. Hadn't heard of Roxy Music at the time. Roxy, check your links. 2 are busted.

Historically, people blessed with my surname attracted the nickname Smudge, so I adopted it before I was left with no choice! I can only hope for your sake that the lavatorial meeting with Peter Grant was accidental! I think we may be geting a little off thread here, though...
