Hipsters,
I'm pleased to announce that the track listing & running order for our fantasy "unplugged", Bryan Stripped Bare album is now definitively decided and before announcing it, I would like to thank all the Ferryistas that lurk in the cybor corridors of this illustrious site for their contributions.
The final album content is as follows:
Track One - "Palaces Of Montezuma" by Cave,Scalavunos,Ellis,Cave.
The rift is phenomenal and any song that opens with;
"Psychedelic invocations of Mata Hari at the station I
give to you" just has to be interpreted by Ferry and the
song will make a great opener for the concert tour.
Track Two - "Amazona" by Ferry,Manzanera.
Art rock at it's finest. Just beging for a stripped
treatment.
Track Three- "New Town" by Ferry. Duet with ANNA CALVI
Proposed by Avonale. This is just a terrific idea. This
haunting song is the perfect vehicle to vocally marry
the new queen of Art Rock with our hero. Furthermore
Calvi has all of the guitar chops for the job. Destined
to be a classic.
Track Four - "Windswept" by Ferry.
This is one of my favourite tracks of all time and I want
him to reinterpret it. It's my idea - so there!
Track Five - "For Shame Of Doing Wrong" by R.Thompson
This is dear Eero's idea. He turned me on to it a couple
of months ago and I'd like to buy him or her lunch at
Scott's on Mount Street for that. It is just a fabulous,
haunting song that is crying out for Ferry dust. I play
it every day.
Track Six - "Trouble In Mind" by R.M.Jones
A much covered crooner's jazz classic. It is Marianne
Faithfull's version that should form the template for
Ferry's interpretation. This has just been waiting to
happen. The great one would lay down a killer version
of this.
Track Seven - " Take A Chance With Me" by Ferry & Manzanera.
This underplayed classic is crying out for a new take.
It's another idea from Eero and it's going in because
he clearly just has better taste than me.
Track Eight - " Down From Dover" by D.Parton.
This would clearly have to be tweaked from the male
perspective and again, it's A Faithfull take that forms
the inspiration.
Track Nine - " Into My Arms" by N.Cave.
When I think of Ferry's take on "The Gates Of Eden"
it leads me to him interpreting this and he should
certainly try and beat Adele or Palomo Faith to the
punch.
Track Ten - "Running Wild" by Ferry,Manzanera.
This haunting beauty just lends itself to being
stripped and it is the song that finally turned my
youngest offspring on to Geordie's favourite son.
Track Ten - "The Man Who Sold The World" by David Bowie. Duet
With BOWIE.
This is Mr or Mrs Rendezvous' blistering idea that
these art rock innovators get together and although
many luminaries were pushing for Bowies' " Lady
Grinning Soul", I've decided on TMWSTW because it
will really suite their mature voices and Nirvana's
version is such an inspiration. It will be a great
closer for the tour and the single will rake in the
conga like the vampire squid on steroids.

De-Luxe Hardback Bonus Version ONLY

Track Eleven - "Beauty Queen" By Bryan Ferry. Smokey night club
version a la "The Only Face". Proposed and
dedicated to the great Roxy for lifelong services to
Roxology.
Ok, although the album is decided, we are open to comments but what we desperately need are proposals for the album title and the band line up ??
After we've sorted that, attentions will have to be turned to the album artwork and stage waldrobe.
Regards,
Windswept

Great selection Windswept2, your enthusiasm made me smile.

As many BF/Bowie suggestions went beyond my original early albums idea, I would like to propose "Sentimental Fool," with one of them playing the "self-pitying" narrator and the other the chastising schizoid personality.

And it's Commander Rendezvous by the way....

I think that is a great choice. Much as I love it, I wasn't convinced about Lady Grinning Soul for the reasons given in my earlier posting.... and The Man Who Sold The World didn't quite strike me as the ideal choice either. This, however, is bang on the money!

As for a cover, my suggestion is to get Bryan, and the band, plus everybody that he duets with onto the cover. They should all be stripped down, standing in front of a hedge and striking a surprised pose. Country Life meets Band On The Run, if you like.

Cher Commander Rendezvous & Avondale,
Despite the fact that I said I wouldn't change my mind regarding track listings at this late stage, I find the good Commander's recommendation of "Sentimental Fool" to be so compelling it replaces TMWSTW as the Ferry/Bowie duet.
However I have to reject Avondale's cover art suggestion on the grounds that our heroes "sans kit" could have Ferryistas all over the world running in the wrong direction.
Although this is an artistic project, we do actually hope to sell some!
For the cover, I had in mind an oil of our hero at the keyboard done in the style of Amadeo Modigliani's "The Cellist".
This would mark a step change and apart from it's obvious beauty, we could sell a lot!
But if there are other ideas that don't involve our heroes disrobing, keep them coming.
But we need ideas foe the album title fast. Ideas please?
Regards,
Windswept

Haha! most of the blokes mentioned here are in their 60's so can you imagine if a slight gust of wind was to shift the hedges? we would all be forced into gazing below their waistlines on what would look more like a line of strangled chickens! not good! haha

It would make a great cartoon charity calender though. :D

Dear Helen,
How right you are!
The very thought of our hero and his musical troubadours sans kit would, at this stage of the game tax the loyalty of the most ardent fan.
Chris Spedding "sans kit" would have them running for the hills.
We need our tailors.
Regards,
Windswept.

I thought for a moment that Avondale was suggesting Spoilsport as the album title, but given the unlikelihood (have I just created a new word?) of Ferry & Bowie recording together, it might be entirely appropriate!

The thought of a bunch of 60+ year old musos stripped down to their support wear isn't a good one; more Hold Ups than Pin Ups for Mr Bowie these days perhaps? ;)

Made me think of how some of the album titles might get updated, e.g. would the 40th anniversary deluxe edition of Taxi be called Dial-A-Ride?!

Hipsters,
The title for the forthcoming fantasy Ferry stripped album will be "debrancher". Hopefully it will have Ferryistas intrigued and stampeding for their dictionaries last used at the time of the "Bette Noir" release.
The track listing is now set in stone and the oil of our hero has been commissioned for the album cover.
But, before we book the studio, we need urgent suggestions for the band line up.
Suggestions for percussion, guitars, horns, strings, keyboards, bass and backing vocals please!
Regards,
Windswept
