Thanks JO'B, I just checked out the emilydrums.com website and got a bit of an update on EDD. She credits herself as part of BF's band for "Corporate Shows 2010-Present" and she appeared with Bono at a "Sothebys Charity Auction" gig back in 2008. Good for her.

I spent a little more time on EDD's website and, although her Blog doesn't have lengthy entries, she does offer some info related to BF's private gig activities that I'm not aware appears elsewhere. For example, BF had a show at a resort down in Turks and Caicos back in late December (just a few days before his marriage - that's called mixing business with pleasure!). And recently she had "a very very cold experience in St Petersburg with Mr Ferry" which I interpret to mean that the intermittent "Russian Oligarch Tour" is alive and well and a staple of BF's revenue stream...

EDD takes her drumming quite seriously, but she seems confined to a basic "groove beat" which is OK but not (at least to me) particularly compelling. When it comes to women drummers I'm pretty old school and favor Mo Tucker of the Velvet Underground (when she wasn't totally wasted) and Honey Mantell of the (Joe Meek produced) Honeycombs. Honey was a fantastic slammer! Check out these clips for a Taste of Honey:

The clip below is audio only and, while the tune is a bit sappy, the drums are heavy indeed!

When I woke up this morning I didn't think I would be searching out Honey M. clips. Which only proves that vivaroxymusic.com can take you on strange adventures!
