rendezvous wrote: Another great post Windswept2, well done! I'd not take out anyone from the band you've put together, but would like to see Julia Thornton in there on percussion, she's so beautiful and talented, my heart belongs to her and Lucy Wilkins. Cher Commander Rendezvous, Thank you for your kind complement. With regards to the delectable Ms.Thornton, consider her recruited. She is a fantastic musician and will doubtless bring a certain frisson to the proceedings. I've been lucky enough to see her play with Roxy & Ferry on a number of occasions and I particularly remember her from the "Frantic" show at NYC's Beacon theatre in 2001. She opened the set up with a harp intro - she was magnificent and will be a huge asset to my fantasy project particularly, when we come to decide the tour line up. I'm painfully aware that if we everybody on the road we'll be fare from stripped! Regards, Windswept.

Avondale wrote: I agree with Helen's general sentiments here - No, not the bit about Sergio Aguero !!! Anyway, now that Windswept2 has rejected the stripped back cover shoot (not nearly as tasteful as the other suggestions, I agree, but this is a fantasy album and I, for one, don't fantasise very much about oil paintings or Sgt Pepper re-shoots), then I guess we can just consider the contributors for their talent alone rather than their other attributes.
We all tend to go a bit stale if we work with the same people all the time, so an injection of new faces and new ideas could act as a real catalyst for Bryan - particularly if he is prepared to take a chance and surrender a reasonable degree of artistic control to them. I have no particular names to champion at this stage, but I don't necessarily think that it should only be restricted to younger faces - just different faces. Is Ry Cooder still with us, for example?
In another recent string I suggested that Bryan should allow Colin Good to enjoy a well earned break in 2012. I know some people consider him to be a bit too flowery, and I understand where they are coming from, but he definitely made a difference to Bryan's output when he came on board. However, he has been around for a long time now and maybe it is time for Bryan to shake things up a bit.
This is a fantasy album - so let's start fantasising and I am sure that we will come up with some interesting nominations. Yes well said, this is exactly what I was trying to say. Doesn't it sound so much more exciting throwing new blood into the equation. Just think between us all we could make the perfect fantasy album if we stretch our imaginations that little bit more.
However Windswept2 has already drawn up the list now, and its WS2'S idea after all that we have to go with, so I think we might have missed the boat on this. Shall we start our own? ...haha! only kiddin windswept2.

Helen, can we have lots of stripped back hotties on the album sleeve?
If so, you can make all of the other decisions
Have we got a deal?

Haha! Oh lots and lots if you like... Throw them all in. the more the merrier.
The album cover alone will sell millions anyway!
somehow I don't think the sleeve will bare any significance to the contents inside though.
Could even end up on the wrong shelf if we're not careful.....

Ageing Hipsters, Being project manager for "Life Around The Corner" is a privilege albeit it can be demanding. At the end of the day we have got a fantasy album to make so we will have to stick to some decisions. The album cover is decided and we won't be turning it into either a page three shoot (if they have anybody left who hasn't been arrested )or a tribute to Man City! It will be the oil of Ferry, swathed in Rubinacci, seated at his Steinway and painted in the style of Modigliani's "Cellist". Signed prints will be on sale post launch in two sizes (£500 & £2000) to help cover some of the album's budget over-runs. Now with regard to the musicians selected to play on the album. I am open to suggestions but the existing line up has been put together with the selected tracks in mind. I will confess to leaning towards his line up from the "As Time Goes By" & "Frantic" tours. Simply because I think they were the best bands he's ever played with and they will be great on the selected songs. I'm all for new blood (not Ry Cooder's) but it has to be injected for a reason. I've reviewed the track listings and we could turn "For Shame Of Doing Wrong" into a duet and try and get Florence. But we have to ask Eero about this as this song was his idea. Eero what do you think? We haven't any money but hopefully she'll do it for free just to be with our hero. Anyway, if there are any serious suggestions for the line up - let us have them urgently because I want us to focus on selecting a producer - what about Eno? Regards, A very aged Windswept

Windswept2 wrote: Hipsters, I'm pleased to announce that the track listing & running order for our fantasy "unplugged", Bryan Stripped Bare album is now definitively decided and before announcing it, I would like to thank all the Ferryistas that lurk in the cybor corridors of this illustrious site for their contributions. The final album content is as follows: Track One - "Palaces Of Montezuma" by Cave,Scalavunos,Ellis,Cave. The rift is phenomenal and any song that opens with; "Psychedelic invocations of Mata Hari at the station I give to you" just has to be interpreted by Ferry and the song will make a great opener for the concert tour. Track Two - "Amazona" by Ferry,Manzanera. Art rock at it's finest. Just beging for a stripped treatment. Track Three- "New Town" by Ferry. Duet with ANNA CALVI Proposed by Avonale. This is just a terrific idea. This haunting song is the perfect vehicle to vocally marry the new queen of Art Rock with our hero. Furthermore Calvi has all of the guitar chops for the job. Destined to be a classic. Track Four - "Windswept" by Ferry. This is one of my favourite tracks of all time and I want him to reinterpret it. It's my idea - so there! Track Five - "For Shame Of Doing Wrong" by R.Thompson This is dear Eero's idea. He turned me on to it a couple of months ago and I'd like to buy him or her lunch at Scott's on Mount Street for that. It is just a fabulous, haunting song that is crying out for Ferry dust. I play it every day. Track Six - "Trouble In Mind" by R.M.Jones A much covered crooner's jazz classic. It is Marianne Faithfull's version that should form the template for Ferry's interpretation. This has just been waiting to happen. The great one would lay down a killer version of this. Track Seven - " Take A Chance With Me" by Ferry & Manzanera. This underplayed classic is crying out for a new take. It's another idea from Eero and it's going in because he clearly just has better taste than me. Track Eight - " Down From Dover" by D.Parton. This would clearly have to be tweaked from the male perspective and again, it's A Faithfull take that forms the inspiration. Track Nine - " Into My Arms" by N.Cave. When I think of Ferry's take on "The Gates Of Eden" it leads me to him interpreting this and he should certainly try and beat Adele or Palomo Faith to the punch. Track Ten - "Running Wild" by Ferry,Manzanera. This haunting beauty just lends itself to being stripped and it is the song that finally turned my youngest offspring on to Geordie's favourite son. Track Ten - "The Man Who Sold The World" by David Bowie. Duet With BOWIE. This is Mr or Mrs Rendezvous' blistering idea that these art rock innovators get together and although many luminaries were pushing for Bowies' " Lady Grinning Soul", I've decided on TMWSTW because it will really suite their mature voices and Nirvana's version is such an inspiration. It will be a great closer for the tour and the single will rake in the wonga like the vampire squid on steroids.
Ok, although the album is decided, we are open to comments but what we desperately need are proposals for the album title and the band line up ?? After we've sorted that, attentions will have to be turned to the album artwork and stage waldrobe. Regards, Windswept Rapidly Ageing and New Younger Hipsters, This was the definitive suggestion for our 'stripped album''. Still looks great to me. Regards, Windswept

I haven't checked back through the whole thread so I may be repeating myself but I have often said that Bryan could do an acoustic version of Beauty Queen. Similar to the treatment he gave "The Only Face", a "smoky nightclub situation" piano & voice version.
