Hi there,
Roxy Music's Siren inspired me to write, sing, and start a band. I have 5 songs recorded and have a rough-cut video on youtube. erlandrocks - This Way of Life.
I wrote another song in the style and attributed it to The Bogus Man, and am preparing to do a video of it like Bryan's videos. As a professional actor, I have access to beautiful women to be in the video and would be curious to see what you think when it's finished! (I know, some of you might be brutal, but I can take it).
I owe it all to Roxy, Bryan, & Gloria (the great love I lost).
***NOTE*** I'm not a Bryan Ferry wannabe. I have my own style. Check my profile if you want to see for yourself. I'm old-fashioned & dress in black & white. Got it from my Dad & doing professional ballroom & tango shows, not Bryan. (in case you were thinking)
So, I was wondering if Roxy Music or Bryan has inspired anyone here to write or play music, or start a band?
And if so, do you have recordings?
Thanks!

I have certainly been inspired by Ferry and Roxy, Erland please post links to your stuff. I was in a punky New wave band in college more than 30 years ago and as lead singer, probably channeled Fery more than I should have. We were dreadful. Over the past few years I have been an active participant on the Bill Nelson forum, Dreamsville. a number of us there have contributed to group projects and through those projects, I have started working pretty closely with a couple of Brits on the Forum. English guitarist Bob kingdon and I have formed The Electric Angels, a band that meanders the lines between Prog, Glam Rock and Power Pop. Our music can be found here: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=895439%20%20 I would suggest the songs, Katarina, Splendid Little War, Le Rouge and Le Noir and The Video mix of Anita Berber for Roxy Fans. I also have an ongoing project with Scottish poet Carole Young as The Symbolists, I would recommend Alchemy here; I was going for an Another Green World like sound. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=1093839&content=musicI hope you enjoy it.

Hi Bob, Listening to your music now. Good stuff! Nice voice. Love the guitar, Great beat! Can hear your BF influence. Been told the same, and I didn't try to sound like Bryan either. My band broke up years ago. I have only 5 songs recorded. You can hear them here: http://soundcloud.com/erlandrocksAlso, I'm in the process of putting a video together of on of my songs. I wrote the song as a tribute to Roxy's The Bogus Man. (Leopard Spot Thunder). Here's the link: http://www.erland.tv/lst.htmlAs I said, I'm an actor, so I have access to beautiful women in my union, and some have said yes to my project. Still looking for more as I'm doing all the casting. You can see some on my site. (Cast So Far...) Did the storyboard last night with my video editor. It'll be like Bryan's "I Put A Spell On You". Will send it to him after it's done. He's gonna love it! I sent an email to John Monkman and he liked my song! Is that cool or what?! Gonna try to have him do a remix. Let me know what you think! Thanks for writing Bob. Now, I'm back to your music! Erland

Whoops!
Sorry Bob, ah, er, Eric!
I read to fast sometimes.
Thanks for watching the Crescent Street video! It was a blast!
Glad you've been here. Montreal is awesome for having a lot of action, and so many beautiful women! I walk into lamp-posts alot, and stumble.
Met Bryan & David Enthoven here in '94. After the show, I partied with David Williams until 5:30 in the morning. I can almost remember clearly the time.
Have listened to most of your music. Will listen to the rest over the week-end.
You should come back to Montreal this summer for the Jazz Fest! It's massive! Lots of great acts this year!
Rock on!

Haven't had a chance to listen to your stuff yet, but the actresses you have lined up for you video are lovely I agree about the girls in montreal-I get lots of elbows in my ribs from my wife! I haven't been back for awhile but we used to drive up for the GP every year, i'm a huge F1 fan-I enjoyed that you shot the vid right outside Newtown!

Ahh, indeed, Montreal has some of the most beautiful women in the world. I took one to see Bryan, and we got invited to the after show party because my date was so stunning.
Get this, Bryan invited her for dinner the next night, and told her to come alone! And after I had invited her, so I have a bone to pick with Bryan.
How funny. Newtown was originally owned by Montreal's own former F1 driver, Jacques Villeneuve .
What a town!
You'll have to come up and have a beer! Or two.

Hi, Some of you tried to click my link and got a 403 Forbidden white page? Sorry 'bout that. I have some I.P. addresses in Europe blocked because of spambots. So sometimes I'll block a whole range, which unfortunately included yours. Please try again! http://www.erland.tv/lst.htmlIf you get blocked, please let know. Thanks. E

Hey, Erland, Sorry not to have responded sooner. I have really been enjoying your songs. Great stuff. I definitely hear the Ferry influence, but it isn't overpowering. it reminds me a lot of Ferry's early solo stuff when he still had a foot in Rock and Roll. Way Of Life I think is my fave so far, but they are all great! Keep the hits coming! Funny about the Newtown reference, I wasn't even thinking about Ferry's song of that name, only about Jacques' restaurant. As an aside, Bob and I just submitted two songs to the John Clae Tribute. My old girlfriend, the inspiration for many of my songs sings backing vox.. You should check out all the songs on the tribute, there is a lot great stuff there. Electric Angels, with Dan Zedek, GUN: http://soundcloud.com/john-cale-tribute/the-electric-angels-gun-johnElectric Angels w/ Amy Lipman, Ship of Fools: http://soundcloud.com/john-cale-tribute/the-electric-angels-with-amyJohn Cale Tribute: http://soundcloud.com/john-cale-tribute and http://www.johncaletribute.com/

We posted a new song this week that is a silly pop song about my infatuation with Brigitte Bardot. Anglo/French musician John Izzard pitched in on electric piano and synth. He also contributed a dance mix which we will post next week. and I have video compiled that I will post this weekend. For now, I Want a Girl Like Brigit Bardot
