Hi. Hope all and everyone well.
Was on you tube earlier, Robbie Neville - C'est La Vie, and the likes, and was offered the option of, Murray Head - "One Night In Bancock". Hadn't heard it for years, and did the obligatory. Always liked the track, because of the tounge-in-cheek lyric, but mostly because of the Roxyesque intro.
It reminded me, of a shortened version of the intro to Manifesto. Whilst listening, I wondered what was my fav intro into to a Roxy song. I couldn't say, at short notice. Possibly "Sentimental Fool running into Ferry's vocal. Ditto, "Serenade", and B.E.B, and Street Life and 34 more, Trash 2, he always makes sure the intro grabbed the audience's attention, don't we think?
So, what is our best, favourite, most loved, intro into a Roxy song?
Is 5 per person allowed? Why not.
Regards. xx

SB, nobody seems to be biting here so I will have a go. For me, it has to be the opening section of Mother of Pearl. However, I am not sure if that can be classed as an intro or the body of the song proper. What's your view on this? If you are ruling that one out then I will go for Do The Strand. Actually, I really like the no nonsense intro to All I Want Is You - so that's my choice if you decide against Mother of Pearl.

Virginia Plain probably nicks the bronze medal (heard it so often that it's in my DNA now and I can't help but react to it...), with Manifesto edged out of top spot by Re-Make/Re-Model. Wondered if I should look harder for something to rival my top choice... I tried, but I could not find a way!

Got to be "Re-make Re-model".
Or "Avalon".
Both spine-tingling.

I have a soft spot for the intro to She Sells, love the guitar riff on If ther is Something but Beauty Queen is the best of them all.

If There Is Something
She Sells
But choosing just one, then it would have to be Sentimental fool....it's haunting and eerie and builds up very gently to a beautiful opening vocal by BF, yep that's mine, darlings.

Oh, how could I forget. Yes, Pyjamarma as well.
I also have a liking for "Psalm".

Not in any preferential order, but we were asked for 5.....
1. Pyjamarama - always get goosebumps with that slamming opening chord and TGPT's reparte response; 2. Sentimental Fool - always get goosebumps that get icier and icier until the opening vocals, then I'm in a trance; 3. Both Ends Burning - it's like trying to catch a firefly, zips in like a firework and you watch it fizz away, you want more; 4. In Every Dream Home a Heartache - perfection; has any intro prepared you better for the disturbing scenes that will unfold? 5. The Midnight Hour - Very smooth and witty and clever, it always makes me smile.
