Here we go! Am hosting a good friend next week, and for months, since I persuaded him to come down for the game, I have wanted to do something, a wee bit different. Cake shop Robert, (he was a roadie on the 1997 tour,) has offered his services. I am doing a big Roxy Music cake for him, with fresh cream, of course. The question is, and am open to offers, what shall accompany the marzipan? At the minute, am going for Paul's skin drum, done to a carbon copy of the Stranded tour. I thought about the "viva roxy music album cover for him, but maybe too obvious.? I am artistic, like my mentor, but it would be great to hear suggestions. Remember, the cake can be circular, rectangular, square, and if i box cleverly, even gate fold.
There will be pix, as a matter of course.
The football game in Question? The best team in the world, ever to play football will be on show in Glasgow. So will Rod Stewart, and Billy Connoly. Swashbuckling football, with some of the greatest football players in the world, european cup winners. I hear Barcelona will be there as well.

If that's the one with just "RM" on it, then that would be brilliant. I still have my membership badge somewhere with that crest on it and always thought it would be a great album cover.
Enjoy the best team in the world, although I wasn't aware Chelsea was playing in Scotland...

Hi Bill No, but that would be another option. Roxy mailed me a copy of the skin drum I mention above, and was amazed to find out the writing on the drum is done in green. Allways thought it to be black. Am getting the cake done as a full black drum, not full size of course, not that fond of him, with the silver trimmings and the likes. Just need to decide what to put on top. Chelsea? were winning 4-3 at time of post. Justice done? Inversneckie Caledonian? What can I say? You can't have your cake and eat it?
Cheers.

Would be too much detail for your cake, but Ms Lear and her black panther will always be the most iconic RM image for me. Mind you, your guest might enjoy munching his way through the Country Life sleeve image! Why don't you revert to plan A, i.e. white drum skin with green lettering? That way you get your Celtic colours in too (& Hibs too, if you want to indirectly thank Roxy for her suggestions...). Maybe you should make a cake for Senor Messi too, in the hope that it might slow him down a bit!

Smudge, Plan "A" was allways favourite, and that it shall be. However, I do have a coscience (?), and bearing this in mind, I am deeply disturbed that it is just not practical to get one sent to both London and Embra. Coming from a sheltered background, I can't understand why anyone would want to eat an album cover, although Stranded was nice, I'll grant you that. Slowing down Senor Messi? They managed it in the first leg, although this will be a different game. Cheers. Incidently, I enquired about a little meal in the stadium, pre-match. It's only £360 per head, and we moan about Roxy tickets! I'd be looking to take home the table, chairs and salt and pepper at that price. He's getting the stadium tour instead. Thats 8 quid.

Hope the cake was a success; any photographic evidence?
P.S. Have since seen the FB pics; worth uploading here (and maybe in TGPT's forum too?)
