Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to recall that the ATGB tour was advertised in the NY times as An Evening With Bryan Ferry, Bryan Ferry sings Love Songs of Tphe 1930's. This was a couple of months before the release of ATGB and I had no clue of what was coming the next Sunday the ad added " and reworked Roxy Music songs." It seems BF is doing more or less the same thing next year with the band added. If he uses the same visuals team of late it will be a fantastic show. I imagine a bunch of deco and Paul Colin images floating on the screen while the orchestra plays. I didn't check the tour date s but did he come to NA before Europe on that tour? Maybe summer in the states? Maybe back to the Greek or Vegas for me and the Mrs. Always hoping!
Fellow Dilettantes,
AzArtist has me imagining the set.
Isaac Ferry is becoming quite a force with the visuals and doubtless the art deco theme will give him a rich tapestry to work with as the promo videos have already demonstrated. Anticipating the importance stage spectacle certainly focuses the mind and will be key when it comes to choosing a venue.
The two best BF shows I've attended were his "Frantic" gig at NYC's fabulous art deco Beacon Theatre in '02 (a venue tailor made for our man by the late Roxy Rothafel!) and his "Olympia" gig at Vienna State Opera House. On both occasions the venues enhanced the set enormously and both have great acoustics.
In the absence of the aforementioned appearing on the schedule I think I'll go for Brighton over London.
It's going to be a great spectacle - maybe we should introduce a dress code for the audience? Flappers only?
Regards,
Windswept
