i absoluteley agree with you. Without the old fellow he never achieved the status of a superstar. I hope Bryan is a gentleman. He would still be grateful to them and an finish his career with the 9th roxy album. That would be fair.

Nooooooooooo ! Roxy are dead ! And must not be given the kiss of life !! Let them RIP. What' s the point of one more album? And Bryan's only written about 25 songs in 25 years ,so he's hardly likely to come up with 10 new ones for Roxy ! And what about the follow-up ?

So what is the point of BF doing another solo album?

I agree with le freak's comment above. BF is highly skilled at obfuscation, essentially prevarication, when it comes to discussing the Roxy 9 Project. As he admits, he is a control freak. He's now trying to control public perception of the substantial amount of recording done back in 2005-6. But take it all with a big grain of salt.

What would be interesting is for PM to publish a log of all the various dates and times in which work was done in the studio on the Roxy 9 Project. That would indeed be a document worth reading.

Post Mamouna BF has used Paul Thompson whenever he can as he is a great drummer...

As time Goes By he went with a jazz drummer for obvious reasons...

apart from that it has been TGPT or Newmark when Paul's health hasn't been tip-top...

PS.

Imagine how annoying it must be for Eno to be constantly asked about Roxy....and for BF to be quizzed about something that he probably regrets and doesn't want to revisit!

Paul has said over on his forum that he's not involved in the forth coming tour that he is aware of! :(

@ Ian :

Maybe you`re right. Maybe its better that the 9th Roxy album will never see the daylight.

But how could we know it without hearing the stuff.

Why do you fear that the name of Roxy is damaged ?
Is Roxy for you more important than Bryan ?

I`m afraid that Bryan is too dependent on Colin Good and damaged his good reputation with the difference that I have been listening to the Jazz Album.
I come from Germany and I would rather see Bobby Charlton playing football instead of buying the Jazz album.

John is spot on with his analysis of Olympia - not a lot if it was new and possibly only two songs featured in the Roxy IX sessions. In the DVD it sounds as though they are playing an early version of BF Bass. I don't think the sessions were just a couple of days - Eno may have only been there for a day but you don't do 17 or so songs in one day or three.

I thought Rhett Davies was involved as well in some form and that there were split sessions with him and Chris Thomas. Paul also mentioned having a long chat with Eno at one of his art things about what was happening with the album.

I also think that Phil and Andy wanted to work on new stuff not off the shelf almost finished recordings from yesteryear.

It appears everyone apart from ferry was enthused at the time - the idea of having to write new lyrics probably filled him with dread and wasn't going to happen for 10 years.

My big beef with the whole Roxy IX/Olympia thing was that there was a heavy play, courtesy of Ferry's camp, that the latter was a Roxy reunion when it was nothing of the sort - just read the reviews and cutting from then - it's manipulation of the worst kind particularly when you could point to any previous ferry album bar B&G and BN which have all featured two or more roxy members - the whole Olympia PR was appalling and should have been included in the Leveson Report

DCJ said "So what is the point of BF doing another solo album?"

This is Bryan's musical journey. and it's taking a few twists and turns. Some good, some not so good, but it hasn't ended yet. All I'm saying is Roxy have come to the end of their journey.
