I know we still have near on 10 months to wait but what do you all think. Personally I would like him to delve into some of the earlier solo stuff for a change. This is Tomorrow, In Your Mind, Sign of the Times, Another Time Another Place to name a few. Thoughts?

I know these are not self penned songs but I would really love to hear a couple from These Foolish Things....including These Foolish things.
Id be made up to see Bf sat at the piano tinkling the ivories dressed up to the nines in a Tux and bow tie, in a smouldering atmosphere, with a shot of whiskey sat close by .... possibly the most romantic and charming thing ever to witness.

Also River Of Salt would be a beauty. I know the vocals won't be the same as back then ( his best vocals by far IMO) but who cares, it's a forgotten gem which I'd love to hear live. He still sounds great live. And practice makes perfect after all. I think with lots of practice he could really smash this.

Or is it Just my imagination....running away with me.

Well you did ask.. ;)

If they use some of the brass section from the BFO for the main band then I would like to hear This Is Tomorrow and the Price Of Love as these hits have never been played live since 1977.

If Johnny Marr is in the band and they stil use 3-4 backing singers then The Right Stuff would be great to hear.

If they used 2 drummers then Sympathy For The Devil would be great.

Although The Bride Stripped Bare didn't have a tour BF has played all the songs on that album liveon subsequent tours except That's How Strong My Love Is, Take Me To the River and The Same Old Blues.

Is Your Love Strong Enough? has never been done live.

Merry Hipsters,
For 2013 I would certainly second Jerry's desire for "Another Time, Another Place" and Helen's idea for "River Of Salt".
Windswept's dream list would also include "Casanova" , "Running Wild" and "2HB".
In addition to the set list, it's going to be exciting to see how he structures "An Evening With Bryan Ferry".
The last four tours have seen the shows going from strength to strength — the visuals for Olympia and FYP were stunning and both in terms of musicianship and showmanship the bar couldn't be set higher.
That said, I've a great feeling about this. He has so much depth and breadth to call on I think we are going to see something very unique. Maybe Ceres will ask him what he has in mind when she interviews him for 6music (broadcast tomorrow)?
Regards,
Windswept.

Oh yes please. Now you're talking. I'd be made up if that happened again.
I was at the G-MEX in 1988 when Bryan introduced JM onto the stage for "The Right Stuff". I couldn't believe my eyes.....also "The Smiths" were still massive around the club scene in Manchester and I was heavily into them (still am) so no one cheered louder than me at the introduction. It was just brilliant. Fingers crossed on that one.

I still have my ticket stub too... :D

Hi guys, got to be 'In your mind' and 'This is tomorrow' for me. Saw the man do IYM at B'ham Odeon in '77 and not seen it since. Happy New Year to you all.

The right stuff (if with Marr)

PS all of the above in non-jazz, I.e. vocal, versions.

The name of the game, Which way to turn, San Simeon.

CS and Ollie on guitars, please.

How about an out-door concert in Athens?

Ferry New Year!

Connoisseur's choice. Two very underrated tracks.

Interesting opinions so far. Always thought Funny How Time Slips Away could go down well live. Certainly get some of us ageing hipsters bopping in the aisles. Keep the thread going with songs you don't want to hear. For me 2 stand out. Avalon and My Only Love. Give them a well earned rest.
