On Radio 2 on Tuesday 12th February at 10pm Johnnie Walker presents a programme tracing the history of Roxy and of Bryan as a solo artist, using only BBC archive material including interviews, sessions and live music from the past 4 decades.

Presumably this is an entirely different programme from the Ferry interview that Walker presented on Radio 2 over Christmas, which seemed mainly designed to promote "The Jazz Age" and which many of us on here were fairly critical of.

It'll be on the BBC I-player for 7 days after broadcast for those who miss it to listen to. I imagine this won't apply if you're outside the UK, unless things have changed recently.

No change unfortunately, still only available in the UK.

Thanks for the info!

Enjoyable but not essential, I thought. Would have been better if there had been some narrative putting the archive clips in context and saying where they were from. A big jump before we get to an introduction of Hammersmith on the Manifesto tour. Not having seen the band on that tour I wasn't impressed with the version of "Out Of The Blue" with the funky bass solo.

Plenty of early Bob Harris introductions (I think) in which he seemed a fan of the band, which surprised me as popular legend seemed to have it that he was more than a bit sniffy about them because they hadn't "paid their dues" as an up-and-coming band by playing loads of gigs as young bands were supposed to do back then to get known. Perhaps popular legend was wrong.

No it wasn't wrong, the Whispering Bore criticised Roxy on their first OGWT appearance and he also said that they had "done nothing since to change his mind" before their second time on the show....fact!
He must have been told to give the positive comments on the live concert.
Anyway his taste in music was/is always crap, so what does he know.
