My it's cold, but it's warm to be back! The first three tracks on Flesh and Blood or the first four tracks on Country Life, or the first five tracks on Siren? What intro to an album floated your boat? Flesh and blood for me, if only for the memories. Cheers x.

the openers/initial tracks on roxy albums have all been great for me, except (sorry) F+B, which is let down by Midnight Hour. But these stand out to my taste/ears: Manifesto (what an underrated epic opener!), then Trash then the original Angel Eyes, Still Falss and STTY (if only this album had been better produced...) Roxy Music (1st album)...opener all the way through to Bitters End works for me Stranded Country Life ...and Siren for the first track, whose own intro is great too.

I adore his version of "Midnight Hour". I was lucky enough to see it performed live the night it went out on the late great Kenny Everett show. Andy's jacket! I could not agree more about "Manifesto" That is Roxy Music. At the time, all the hype in the music press for months, pre re-union, was about how will they sound. I remember a reveiw along the lines of "and just when you're not looking, Ferry steps in" Classic Roxy. The re-vamped B side version of Manifesto is Ferry in his fun mode.

Given the title of this thread, I must "chime in" with my view that three great concluding tracks appear on In Your Mind) (i.e. Party Doll, Rock of Ages, and IYM)
Many I time did I drop the needle in the groove at the start of Party Doll and revel in what followed. Gotta love TGPT's intro drumfill on RoA! And Spedding's guitar work on IYM ranks among his very best.
And I don't think BF ever crafted another set of lyrics to match IYM (although Manifesto is damn good)...

Yes! The 6th Roxy Music Album, at the time. They are all there bar Andy. I agree. Cheers. Our hosts tells me, and this is important, that the reason I couldn't get in was that I had exhausted all 499 attempts with my password, so if you know anyone else that was at The Barcelona game that night, and is encountering the same bother, placate them with the news.

Andy looks like he's about 14 years old in this pix.

I knew you would have that on file! However, I was reffering to The New Musical Express review. The interesting thing is that, if you check the tour dates from then, and marry them up from the forth-coming tour dates, they are akin to each other.

Thanks for posting that article, I remember that pic well as well as the some songs being played on the Capital Radio show... great memories.
A question though for the experts, the article mentions that Roxy played on the Abba show. If I remember rightly, they played Dance Away, but the later version of the song which made it to Nr. 2 in the charts.
I thought this version of Dance Away was quickly editied just in time to release it as a single after Trash failed in the charts, and basically "rescue" Manifesto in the charts. If the article is correct, then Roxy had the editied version of DA well before.
Can anyone highlight on that please?
All the best..
