Prince. Now there's a topic.
Don't know if I posted this here before, or just mentioned it to mum, but Prince dote's on Roxy Music. The beeb did a docu about him recently, and a former girlfriend mentions, in his formative years, he went to bed listening to Roxy, and had breakfast, listening to Roxy. Our webmaster informs me there is a mutual fondness.
Before I knew of the affinity, I was a massive Prince fan, and still am. He is a perfectionist, like our leader is, and he's got the look, same as our leader has. Happy days indeed.

Roxy. Thank's for drawing my attention to the Def Leppard version of Street Life. That is more than good! Mind you, the Son's Of William flute band fae Drumchapel could pipe out Streeeeet Life, and I would still love it!

Yes, he pushes a lot of buttons for me as well. A true one-off and a giant talent. When a recent string on VRM asked for a suggested producer for BF's next album I immediately thought of Prince. I didn't suggest him because (as far as I understand it) he pretty much only self produces. However, given this revelation then maybe, just maybe, he could be persuaded to take this on. That would be a very interesting project.

Renowned Roxologists, I am humbled by your responses. As somebody who thought he knew his Ferry it is clear that I am a mere debutant who would struggle to get an 'O' level let alone a degree! A particular thanks must go to RoxySiren for bringing the excellent Willy Deville (RIP) version of 'Slave To Love' to my attention. It really is quite fantastic and although my loyalty prevents me publicly agreeing that it's better than the original. Privately I would acknowledge that he has an excellent point! This and Norah Jones' version of MTT serve as a testimony to how great some of his songs are when 'stripped'. Also, thanks to SB for The Scissor Sisters take on 'Do The Strand' (this type of disco beat isn't really my thing but the vocals are great) and to IanS for bringing Debbie Harry's take on MTT to my attention. I've always liked her for more than her music! As for the rest — wastrels, please try harder. Bowie, Morrisey et all were completely awful.Martha Wainwright might have been OK if she'd shot the guy she was singing with and as for Ian McShane - for God's sake Ian, stick with the day job and get that Mullet sorted! Finally, I loved that 'Big Train' thing were the guy flatlined and woke up in Roxy Heaven as our hero. Come to think of it, that could well serve as an appropriate end for many of this forums contributors! All for now and remember, if you can't be good — be cool. Regards, Windswept Ps. Can anybody out there persuade Nick Cave to cut 'Running Wild' ?

Hope this works and it's the sequence you're thinking of!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tFF2oB4n6MHilarious! Great spot, Hard Rain; I do hope the members of Roxy have seen this! A good effort on the costumes, especially "Eno", although a bit of a warning for Phil: his 70s look seems to have put on a bit of weight until he looks like one half of Chas & Dave and has been relegated to bass duties! Spookily, the late great Paul Kossoff (guitarist with Free & Back Street Crawler) appears to have been reincarnated as TGPT!

First of all: hello everybody, a "newly'" converted Roxy fan here. Thank you John for your help with registration!
I always thought, however, "Psalm" would totally suit Nick Cave!
