Hmmm. Something seems to have disappeared in terms of Topics. I checked the Internet via Google, and there are indeed a number of recent newspaper reports regarding "Our Hero" (as WS2 would phrase it).

Any reason why my topic about Bryan and his wife splitting has been deleted ,John? My message contained no swear words or aggression. Just wondered if the rumours were true.

I would rather this forum was not the place where the private lives of the band are discussed.
It is something I have no interest in but more importantly we should give respect and privacy of their private lives.
From the site rules;
• Please respect the privacy and private life of the band members and their families. • Please do not post any links or references to paparazzi style stories about the band members.

As the site owner John it is, of course, perfectly reasonable for you to remind people of the Forum rules, but these do appear to be applied a little haphazardly. It seems it's ok to comment on good aspects of 'private life' as topics citing a wedding not too long ago are still up, but it's not ok to comment on a less happy story that's out there in the public domain. I'm as interested as you are in private lives - frankly there's a hell of a lot I wish I didn't know when it comes to BF - but if you want to keep a lid on debate it has to be done even-handedly. Censorship - or whatever you might want to call it - has always been fraught with danger.

Fair point, my eye must have been off the ball then.

I've given this a lot of thought over the past few days, and come to the conclusion that very little that has been posted or presented on VRM can be considered as imposing on the "private" lives of the members of Roxy Music and their associates.
I'm not aware of anyone on this forum who hangs out on the streets of London or the byways of the English countryside, trying to catch glimpses of RM members as they live their privates lives, and then reporting their discoveries in Forum postings. And there has never been any indication of Forum posters hacking into some email or facebook account and divulging the content of private messages or communications.
The vast bulk of presumably private information comes from publicly available websources (usually newspapers or music biz journals) and often involve interviews freely offered by RM members. For example, the recent interview that BF gave to a German music mag divulged the private information that he was going to bed at midnight and getting up for music/studio work at 9am. Yes this is personal information about BF's private life, but he publicly expressed it and thus I think it reasonable that posters on VRM take note of it and use it as a basis of forum discussion if they so desire.
It is certainly JO'B's prerogative to moderate the forum as he see fit; he is the person who maintains the site and has done so much to make it an internet hub of Roxy/BF fandom. I hope that VRM will continue to function as a site where a wide range of topics can be discussed and a wide range of perspectives be expressed related to the expansive world of Roxy Music and the personalities that inhabit it.

I apologize for transgressing upon Scandinavian sensitivities and callously ignoring all the cultural implications attending the "Schleswig-Holstein Question." Me bad. Here's a useful link for those who come to this forum seeking wide-ranging knowledge: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schleswig- ... n_QuestionAnd I also apologize for blurring the line between newspaper and magazines. Me Bad redux. But I think what I said about BF's comments to the interviewer regarding his sleep/work habits of late were accurate. Me Not Bad on this point.

Now I've started digging into Danish/German issues and came across this intriguing fact:
"The Danish-German border was the only one of the borders imposed on Germany following World War I which was never challenged by Hitler."
Hmmm. That's interesting...

Daddy roxysiren was a Dane or German depending upon the date of the border. The S-H border issue was vey important chez nous Really. I've been waiting a long time to get the chance to cite this historical issue. Rock on Bismarck.
