Monsieur Smudge, A great review - as scribed elsewhere, I was confined to the "red button" but would have loved to have been there particularly after your description of the string intro to "Hard Rain". Great to hear that you are a fan of "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues". Our hero's interpretation is close to peerless but if I could be allowed a little sacrilege, there is one slightly better and that's by the late, great Nina Simone - check it out, you won't regret it. Now, last nights jacket, that is peerless! Regards, Windswept.

Thanks for the report Smudge! I watched online and saw the full set but I like to hear from someone "out in the field" so to speak! I agree that it seemed like Wogan was told to "fill" and bumbled his way through an awkward few minutes at the end. "Tip Toe Through the Picnics"..............sounds like a title for a song!!

I was there too with my hubby and youngest daughter ( 15 ) and I agree with everything that Smudge said. We were about 40-50 yards back, next to the big group all wearing union jack onesies !! I loved the jacket - Bryan looked very suave and his voice was the strongest that I've heard in a while. He really seemed to rise to the occasion and thoroughly enjoyed having the backing of the BBC concert orchestra.
In fact we heard him rehearsing at about 11.30am when we were on our way to our rented apartment near Marble Arch, so we knew that Can't Let Go and Tom Thumb were on the setlist.
There was no doubt that Sir Terry was filling in time but the fact that it was so impromptu made it more appealing and Bryan was more relaxed. An added bonus . He also mentioned a new album ........
Btw, although I have been a huge fan for 40 years and indeed was amember of the Roxy fan club run by Peter Leahy back in the day , I have never met J O'B and actually would not know what he looks like, so if you are going along to the Oxford New Theatre gig on the 3rd Nov, maybe I can make your acquaintance ( Pleased to meet you ........ )
Finally can anyone tell me anything about the dynamic lady drummer ? As a female drummer/percussionist myself, although sadly rather more long in the tooth than said lady, I am intrigued as to how Bryan has found her etc.

Helen, Get your thimble ready; I'm on my way, top rates paid! Cher Rendezvous, If Helen is game, this could be the solution. The great Roxy suggested elsewhere that I go to LV. Although the recommendation was well intentioned, it would be a disaster as they sell handbags and would result in Mrs.Windswept emerging with a trolley full of the aforementioned, I'd loose my shirt and there would be no budget for the new jacket! Interestingly I remember our hero staked out at the top bar in Annabel's (Sunderland not Berkley Square) in about 1974 wearing the most sumptuous printed floral velvet jacket - plus ca change? Regards, Windswept

I had a great friend who managed a very cool shop and I challenged him to find me similar - of course he failed but managed to get himself one that he wore to my wedding. Great days then, great days now. Regards, Windswept

Quote: Were on earth did you get that shot - it is absolutely the jacket that I refer to - brilliant! By coincidence Brian Eno/Dark Shark posted that picture on their Facebook page yesterday! Usually I would have posted the one below as when I read your post I knew it had to be that jacket. They must have been taken at the same session.

I don't think I could just stop at the jacket though, my nimble thimble needle and thread will surely stretch to the full floral suit....or else its like having a cream tea without the cream.
Word of warning..... if you end up looking more like Laurence llewelyn bowen than BF, then blame his Shantung Black/Hot Pink wallpaper sample, and not me. haha
I think you'll pull it off with the pointy shoes though...
