Barkeep, I beseech thee, let not WS2 quaff down another tankard of Kool-aid!

Hey, if you want to believe its all about the art then, who am I to dissuade. But I have a different perspective...

I like TJA. It's enjoyable to listen to. I certainly have gotten a lot more pleasure out of it then Olympia. But I still believe it is largely an exercise in Milking the Catalogue. A very creative milking, but milking nonetheless.

Oh WS2, I know I am a blasphemous heathen in your eyes. It's a wonder I can sleep at night knowing that I have called into question the ever pure motives of A National Treasure. But wait. What nation is it that we speak? Ah yes, fair Albion. But that is not my nation and thus this is probably the root of my course foulness. With good reason they have velvet ropes and thick-armed bouncers to keep the likes of me in my place and far far far away from the anointed inner circle...

Out here we have little taste for Kool-aid, but nonetheless enjoy partaking in the earthly pleasure of a cool frothy milkshake!

...this 'milking' vs 'not milking'...

i love how various members of this board curse bf for 'recycling' material, and then in the same breath denounce him for 'missing' marketing opportunities ie doing promo in the usa for the gatsby movie...

...just as people moan when he doesn't release anything or tour for 5 years then say he's doing too much with 3 records in 4 years!!

you don't have to like everyhting, but give the guy a break! roxy are over!!!

Erland was the poster who bemoaned BF's lack of North American promo related the Great Gatsby, not me.

I have no illusions about BF's (dis)interest in Roxy for the foreseeable future. But here's an idea: Instead of releasing the Jazz Age vocal version of LITD as a cd-single, why not release a cd-single of "Move On Up" in anticipation of the upcoming Brit Tour? Hardly a radical act, but it is something NEW that I think a lot of fans would be interested in.

Mon Ami,
A very good idea but before I buy you a large Koolaid, please don't accuse our hero of milking Curtis Mayfield's catalogue!
Regards,
Windswept.

WS2, I would much enjoy quaffing down a tankard or two of Kool-aid with you. We would have a good time my friend, no doubt!

You have figured out the flaw in my proposal for a cd-single of Move On Up. It's part of Curtis Mayfiled's catalogue and not BF's. But it could be that BF's record company BMG Rights Management also controls the CM catalogue. That is hardly beyond the range of possibility... And it might well be the BMG Rights Management is actively encouraging BF to cover tunes that they control.

Yes, this seems very conspiratorial, but if true that would simply be the business of show business...

And after all the discussion of the merits or not of the single,it doesn't seem to have appeared after all.
