I am minded to make an effort for an Evening with Bryan Ferry, particularly in the grandeur of the Royal Albert Hall.

I feel however that a black tie would be appropriate but I may not be able to carry it off, or I will look like an mis-placed maitre d.' If I did wear one.

I've long been of the opinion that there should be a door policy at our hero's concerts with ne'er-dress-wells being refused.
That said, the turn out at some recent gigs would give rise to large parts of the potential audience being rejected!
Giving sartorial advice is always a little precarious but personally I'd stop short of full smoking - there is always a danger of some reprobate asking you to refill their glass.
Probably best that we retain the adage; "All styles served here".

My life's a pretty open book for the afternoon and early evening, but I may head off for the late show at Ronnie Scott's afterwards (starts around 11 p.m. and only costs a tenner, if anyone wants to tag along there...).

Having spent two afternoons and one evening at the RAH within the past week, when Bluesfest was on, I've got to know my way around the place a bit; the Berry Bros & Rudd No.3 Bar at basement level is quite spacious and very comfortable....

I've messaged Windswept2 offline, but for the benefit of anyone else attending... music starts at 19.30, although the doors will apparently not open until 18.45.

I plan to have a rapid look at the merchandise stand before an equally quick snifter in the basement Berry Bros. bar at 19.00 for about 20 mins (maybe reconvening somewhere later, as the show will end around 21.45; there's a planned 20 min intermission).

I hope to say hello to Mr & Mrs Windswept and any other VRM members who might drop in.

As I'm full of a streaming head cold and may return home by night bus (after the late show at Ronnie Scott's, if I feel up to it), I'm less inclined to go suited & booted tonight (maybe at Brighton instead...).

Look out for a 5'8", rapidly greying, slightly overweight 52 year old "has been" (or probably "never was"...) dressed in black: probably BF polo shirt & leather sports jacket (probably some trousers too, unless I have a senior moment...).
