Good to see that the reviews are generally very positive (or, in the case of Mancunian Matters, positively gushing!), despite some sloppy journalism...

The MEN review refers to the opening numbers as LSO meeting the Acker Bilk Jazz Band; has BF somehow acquired a string section and persuaded the BFO to master yet another different style of jazz? ;)

As for David M. Ford's mean spirited blog (let's not dignify that one with descriptors like "review" or "journalism"), I was pleased to see that he's already getting his come uppance in the comments in the footer... If he'd done any research, he'd have known what to expect musically and would have had the option of staying home, presumably alone...

Looking forward to the Albert Hall next week and to hearing about this week's gigs beforehand from other VRM members who have witnessed them. Thanks in advance!

Yes, these are the reviews that really matter so don't be shy guys..

In the meantime, and discounting David M. Ford's shock blog, from the reviews above it looks like the front end of the tour is living up to our expectations.

One minor point though i.e. LITD twice on the same setlist. OK, I know that the styles are very different, but doesn't Bryan have enough in the locker to avoid this? My preference would be to retain the BFO version and bring in something else in lieu of LITD for the full band section. There are plenty of suitable suggestions above but Hard Rain would be my preference....or, better still, ATAP as per one of the other currently active strings on this forum. Now that would be just perfect !

I didn't attend Friday's show so cannot possibly comment on how the performance went, we are all entitled to our opinion, but If there any criticisms to be had then surely constructive criticism is what Is called for, not rude and personal insults which is the route that David M Ford took.

Maybe it is that David M Ford has a massive man crush on Bryan, and left the theatre in floods of tears when BF didn't fix his gaze on him throughout the whole show? a woman scorned and all that haha

Tempted to leave a comment, but I am far too gracious and dignified to start pardoning my French. haha

We can live in hope Jerry.

While we are at it, if Bryan also dropped Jealous Guy (which I definitely think has no place at a BF solo concert) then he could squeeze in both Hard Rain and ATAP.

As he routinely rolls JG out at gigs (and very nicely too, to be fair) to cater for the casual element of the audience then there is no chance of this materialising - but stranger things have happened, I guess.

It was a good show on Saturday, thoroughly enjoyed it, Bryan was in great voice and the jazz band were class. Enrico Tomasso is a superstar, what a little bundle of fun he was, wanted to put him under my arm and take him home with me by the end haha

Cher Helen,
Delighted you had such a great time!
Isn't Enrico Tomasso just such a brilliant trumpet player? He really is the absolute business - I love his sound.
Our hero really knows how to pick them.
Regards,
Windswept.

Aw, Thank you, Windswept.

It was a great night, Enico Tomasso is superb, just class! not only that, he was having such a good time too which really added to the enjoyment of the night
I was watching ATGB DVD last week to get me in the mood for the show, which was one of my all time favourite tours by BF. Just what the doctor ordered to get me excited in advance of the show.

Your time coming up soon with the 'Greats' Enjoy! x
