Hola amigos.

I am over in Ibiza at the moment watching the lifeblood pour out of Europe´s most vibrant location as summer 2013 comes to an end. Sad - but time stands still for no man and all that.

Anyway, the upside is that I fly home soon just in time for the start of the UK´s autumn schedule (that´s fall to you guys based stateside). So, one week tonight I kick off with the excellent Peter Gabriel and after that it´s at gig a week or better for next couple of months - the absolute highlight obviously being when Bryan visits town in November. (Jerry Nunn - are we still on for this one?)

There is no place better than Good Old Blighty at this time of year.

I can´t wait.

I would have loved to have seen Mott in Glasgow but I had already booked Ferry in Edinburgh the same evening. Imagine 40 years ago thinking Ferry and Mott playing playing the same night, 40 years later. Hard to imagine.

I was thinking about the watering hole for Glasgow and the obvious choice would have been Lauder's Bar saying as it was were most concert go-ers would have hung out pre-Apollo gigs so I took a wee run in in anticipation a few Friday's, then Satuday's, and Sunday's ago to see if it was still fit to receive us and guess what? It's not changed from what I remember of it before the last Roxy tour at the Apollo. It's a stone's throw from the Concert Hall but it's all change up that part of our wonderful city now so best see what the mumble is nearer the time. I'll certainly go into Lauder's for one before the gig, at 11.01 am. For the memories. Great to get a team picture outside where the Apollo once stood, on the evening. Doubt if we'd get another chance.

Jeezypeeps! You are certainly planning to start the day early, SB.

There is no denying that Lauders is a fine watering hole but, in keeping with the occasion, wouldn't it be more appropriate to visit one of the excellent cocktail bars up that end of town for a couple of pre-gig revivers? The Blue Dog on West George Street springs to mind. They mix up a very classy glass. A bit harder on the pocket, but all part of the AEWBF experience.

Anyway, that is just my tuppence worth. If you guys decide to meet up then count me in please, no matter the venue.

Avondale I am but a humble Civil Servant but am on holiday all week so I may be available for an earlier start although 11.01 would probably mean being unfit for purpose for gig time at 8 ;)

I'm not the authortity I once was on Glasgow shops since they knocked down "Syllvester's The Pub" and done away with the dancin' in Joanna's.
I'll go with the flow. I believe there are a few who are travelling a distance to the Glasgow concert so I would also endorse a "quality" establishment.

I was at T Rextasy last night. Went passed some of the venues being talked about. On the site of the old Apollo now stands an Australian themed sports bar called Walkabout. Although handy not probably what the VRM team are looking for. Did pop in for one and they were playing Kylie's version of LITD oddly enough.

Like most cocktail bars, the Blue Dog is far from cavernous so, if we are likely to meet up in meaningful numbers, we might swamp the place.

Can I put forward an alternative venue that might prove more suitable for consideration i.e. The Urban Bar and Brasserie in St Vincent Place. This is a nice establishment with a relaxed atmosphere and, as it is half way down Buchanan Street, it is only a short walk up the hill to the Concert Hall (or a mad sprint up the hill if the weather is not favourable, of course).

PS - to see some pics of Bar, hold cursor over the Restaurant option at top of page and Bar will drop down

But does it open at 11.01 am to accommodate SB's plans?

Only joking, but it looks like the Social Convenor baton has passed on to you, Roxy - that's if you are planning to be there, of course. Anywhere is fine by me. :D
