Julie Covington

Julie sang in the Thames TV drama Rock Follies. She was seen by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Weber, and approached in 1977 to sing their new musical Evita. She turned down the lead in the stage production, but recorded Don't Cry For Me Argentina, which was a huge chart success. Her recorded version is still considered the very best. Her only other chart hit was Alice Cooper's Only Women Bleed. Since then, she has made a career on stage
