Roxy Music and Andy Mackay And The Metaphors percussionist/harpist
Julia Thornton has sent the press release for a new project she is
working on with Solus 3. Julia thinks "Roxy fans will appreciate
the 'left of the middle' feel of this, our debut album."
SOLUS 3 – Harp Trio Announce Debut Album
On July 11 2010 Solus 3 release their debut album “The Sky Above The Roof”
in three formats – digital download through iTunes, compact disc and a
limited edition audiophile vinyl collector’s edition.
SOLUS 3 is a trio featuring harpist and percussionist Julia Thornton (Roxy
Music, Bryan Ferry, Metaphors), drummer Hamilton Lee (Transglobal
Underground, UNITE, Lunar Dunes) and bassist Ian Blackaby (Lunar Dunes).
The seven track album includes a setting of a Lorca poem, an arrangement
of the eponymous Vaughan Williams song and five pieces based on group
improvisations.
The core trio are augmented by cameo appearances from Krupa and Sheema
Mukherjee (Transglobal Underground), Canadian soprano Stacey Clark,
guitarist Seb Hunter, throat singer Elii Geba and trumpeter James
Williams.
The distinctive sleeve images were created by Jan Dunning who has forged a
considerable reputation as a Fine Art pinhole photographer.
Solus 3 will make their live debut on DATE – GIG DETAILS TBC
The “Sky Above The Roof” is available from Apple iTunes, from
www.solus3.com and from specialist stores and on line retail. The numbered
limited edition of 1000 is pressed on 180gm vinyl.

Roxy Music's first tribute band Re-make/Re-model have taken the whole tribute band thing to a further stage of authenticity by re-forming again in 2010 just like the real band.
After 7 years the Dutch band have reformed and have a new website on line now. www.remakeremodel.nl
UK Tribute band Roxy Magic are to play some dates in Scotland in May 14th & 15th.

The latest newsletter from www.bryanferry.com has stated that Dave Gilmour has done some session work for the forthcoming Bryan Ferry album due for release later this year. David Gilmour better know as the guitarist in Pink Floyd played on Bryan Ferry's 'Boys And Girls' as well as at Live Aid in 1985. He played guitar on 'Is Your Love Strong Enough?' and was featured on the video and also appeared on Bryan's 'Bête Noire' in 1987. The Roxy Music connection continued as David also co-wrote the track 'One Slip' from Pink Floyd's 'A Momentary Lapse Of Reason' with Phil Manzanera. He also did guitar on the song 'Sacred Days' on Phil Manzanera's album '6PM'. Phil produced David's album 'On An Island' released March 2006 and Phil joined him on his 2006 tour

11 January 2010 MICK GREEN R.I.P.
I have just learned of the sad news of the death of Mick Green. Mick played guitar on Bryan Ferry's 'Frantic' album and was also a member of the Frantic tour from 2002-2004. Mick will be sadly missed by the band and the fans who enjoyed his great playing, sense of humour and rapport with the fans during that tour.
