Lyrics to For Your Pleasure

Lyrics to the song For Your Pleasure as recorded by Roxy Music.

(Ferry)

For your pleasure in our present state
Part false part true like anything
We present ourselves
The words we use tumble
All over your shoulder
Gravel hard and loose
There all night lying
With your dark horse hiding
Abhorring such extremes

You're rubbing shoulders
With the stars at night shining so bright
Getting older
But you'll wake up soon and fight
In the morning
Things you worried about last night
Will seem lighter
I hope things will turn out right
Old man
Through every step a change
You watch me walk away
Tara (tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara, tara)
(you don't ask why!)

For Your Pleasure

Album Track

For Your Pleasure is the title track to Roxy Music's second album.

This song was performed regularly until 1975 of which a recording from The Empire Pool London was used as a b-side to the Both Ends Burning single. The first performance since 1975 was during the 2001 reunion tour where Ferry waves to the audiences as the closing lines "Tara Tara" are repeated, the band one at time take it in turn to leave the stage waving to the crowd as the track fades.

The track closes with the voice of Judie Dench saying " you don't ask why" faintly in the background. This voice was sampled by Eno from recording of poetry recited by Dench.

Simple Minds have recorded a version of this song on their 'Neon Lights' album
